A slip knot is the first of a crochet project and takes a few tries to master. You can build all your subsequent stitches from the Slip Knot. If it feels hard, don’t be discouraged, it’s not. I have simplified the knot with pictures so it can be easy to follow.
Slipknot for Dummies
Step 1 : Grab a crochet hook and yarn . Use the open end of the yarn and wrap it around your fingers.

Step 2 : Make an X shape or a Criss-Cross with the yarn by wrapping the yarn a second time.

Step 3 : Take your Crochet hook and insert it under and over the crisscross.

Step 4 : Pull-through the bottom yarn of the crisscross and it should form your slipknot.

Step 5 : Pull either end of the knot to tighten it.
